Physio tips for runners

• Stay strong
Strength and control in the torso and hip muscles will help you avoid injury. Lunges are an ideal exercise to strengthen for running.
• Stay supple
Follow the lead of top level runners who use sports massage to avoid injury.
Dynamic stretching helps you get the most out of your muscles.
• Consider cross training
Most running injuries occur due to overload and overtraining. Cross training keeps your fitness up and can help you avoid injury.
• Support your feet
The feet absorb the impact as our leg hits the ground, so the right socks and footwear are vital to absorb impact and prevent injury.

Race day

Our team of physios and sports massage therapists will be there on race day to help you with any injuries and ease your muscles after the race. We look forward to seeing you in Millennium Square on September 14th.
