St Peter's Hospice - official 2010 Bristol 10k charity

Who we are
St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult Hospice caring and supporting patients in Bristol and surrounding areas with progressive disease, usually cancer. Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. Since its inception, its services have always been free of charge.

St Peter’s Hospice continues to be committed to improving the quality of life for patients in Bristol, and surrounding areas while extending support to their families. The hospice now provides care from teams of specialist nurses who visit patients in their homes and also from in-patient unit and day hospice at its building in Brentry.
Who we care for
Last year we cared for over 2,000 patients and supported over 6,000 family members including children. 85% of the care was provided in patients homes.
How we are funded
The cost of this service is over £6 million a year and we can only do this work because of the support of the community.
What we hope for Being the official race charity for 2010 -2011 we are hoping to see significant growth in our Brentry Hospice and the Family Liaison and Grief Support (FLAGS) service that supports bereaved children, young people and their families. We provide support to parents, guardians or relatives, of children and young people who are learning to cope with the bereavement of a significant adult.

Charity collections
If you plan to run and collect money for charity at the race from members of the public, you will need to obtain permission from Bristol City Council Licencing Office in order to do so.
Application forms are available either in hard or electronic copy from the Licensing Office, Princess House, Princess Street, Bristol BS3 4AG, contact telephone number 0117 9142500 or via email to licensing@bristol.gov.uk.
Applicants will be required to provide some form of authorisation from the charity which demonstrates they are entitled to collect on the charities behalf. The purpose being to ensure that bogus collectors are not able to obtain permits for their own private gain. There is no fee associated with the application process however once a permit has been issued the promoter is required to submit an account detailing the amount of money raised, amounts deducted for expenses and the contribution given to the charitable cause within 3 months of the date of the collection. Failure to provide an account may jeopardise the granting of any future permits for that particular charity.
