92-Year-Old Could Become Oldest Woman To Finish A Marathon

A North Carolina cancer survivor is attempting to become the oldest woman to finish a marathon. 92-year-old Harriet Thompson is running in the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego Sunday. This is are 16th time competing in the race.

“I think that would be fine. I don’t know whether it will make a difference in my life,” Mrs. Thompson said at a news conference

Last year she finished in seven hours 7 minutes and 42 seconds beating the previous record for a woman 90 or older by more than an hour and a half. Thompson is a two-time cancer survivor and recently recovered from a staph infection in her legs. She says she is running the marathon which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society because; she is lost several members of her family to cancer.

“I am so thankful that I can do a little bit to help, it means a lot of people out here trying to get money for the reason,”Mrs Thompson said at a news conference
The oldest man to complete a marathon is about as saying. He finished the Toronto Waterfront marathon in 2011 at one hundred years old.
